Soil is not just dirt — it is a living, breathing ecosystem teeming with beneficial microbes. Chemical fertilisers may boost yield in the short term, but over time they kill these microbes, leaving the soil dependent on ever-increasing chemical inputs just to survive. That is not farming. That is a slow death.
Pesticides and synthetic fertilisers ripple through the entire ecology — harming the bees that pollinate our crops, disrupting the insects that keep the soil healthy, and unravelling a balance that took millennia to build. A farm without bees is a farm in decline.
Our food has changed more in the past hundred years than it has in the past hundred thousand. Chemical agriculture is barely 80 years old — and we have not evolved to process its synthetic inputs. We believe the steady rise in lifestyle diseases is not unconnected to what has changed on our plates since then.
We may produce a little less. Our yields may not match a chemically farmed plot. But our soil will be richer next year than it is today — and the year after that. That is the only kind of farming we believe in. Not just for us, but for the generations that come after.
